Ms. Alissa has a strong background in Early Childhood Education having studied at both Johnson County Community College and KU. She has been teaching for almost 9 years. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Kathryn Sprick

Ms. Kathryn is a local Lawrencian and a new mother of one! She is currently in school studying Elementary Education. She has previous experience working in early childhood and in her free time enjoys hiking and paddle boarding. Ms. Kenzi is originally from Orange County and is mom to one kitty named Mo. She is currently a Music Therapy major at KU and has early childhood experience in an in-home facililty. She enjoys spending her free time in the sun. Her favorite quote regarding children is "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Ms. Shelby is a native of Lawrence. She has a dog and a cat and enjoys watching movies and hanging out with friends. She has one year of college completed so far and has enjoyed babysitting for family and neighbors over the years. Regarding what and how we teach children, Ms. Shelby feels, 'What children learn in early stages of life is important to them growing into good upstanding citizens. Who teaches them and how is very important.'

Ms. Vanessa is from Ramah, New Mexico. She is mom to one son and they have 2 cats, Milo and Sitka. Ms. Vanessa holds a Masters in Curriculum and Teacher Education. She has been teaching for 7 years, both as a 2nd grade and 6th grade teacher and including working in early childhood where she has experience with infants through preschoolers. For fun, Ms. Vanessa likes reading, sewing, running, hiking, volunteering, and watching movies with her family. One of Ms. Vanessa's favorite quotes is "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." –Nelson Mandela

Ms. Violet is a native Lawrencian. She is a recent high school graduate who enjoyed playing bass in the orchestra.

Ms. Ashli is a native Lawrencian. She has 5 cats and 1 dog. She plans to return to school in the near future, and in the meantime, spends her free time bike riding, walking the dog and taking him to the dog park, and re-finishing wood furniture. Ms. Ashli can generally be found in the toddler classrooms.

Ms. Marge is originally from Ohio. She has 3 children, 7 grands, 6 greats, and a dog! She earned an Associate's degree in Ed. Bernoulli's Babies
Beth's background has been mostly in special education. She began in the early 70’s at KNI in Topeka, KS. After getting married and starting a family, she went back to special education with early education in Indiana. Her family relocated back to Kansas in 1993, and choose Lawrence to be its home. She began working with Lawrence Public Schools in the special education vocational program, developing jobs, and ensuring employment. In 1999 she was lucky enough to become a stay at home nana for her grandchildren. As of January 2010 she has worked and played at Googols of Learning in the two year old room as the lead teacher. She says, “I am still happily married to my husband Larry, have three of the greatest adult children, and I am nana to nine of the most amazing grandchildren." She continues to thoroughly enjoy spending her work days as play dates with the wonderful two-year-olds at Googols of Learning. Ms. Beth also serves on our PBS Lead Team.

Ashleigh Ward

Ms. Ashleigh is originally from Lawrence. She has one cat and four guinea pigs! She has most of her CDA and plans to return to school in January for an Associates in early childhood. In addition to Googols, she has worked in preschool centers, in-home facilities, and a Waldorf-Steiner center over the last seven years. In her free time she enjoys cross stitching, hiking, and spending time with her family. Ms. Ashleigh can be found in Bernoulli's Babies, but also frequently in the front office. Ms. Ashlee holds a CDA and is currently finishing her Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Ashlee has been working in early childhood for more than 5 years. She lives in Lawrence and is a mom of two boys. Her 5-year-old son is attending Googols and the other one is an infant. She is driven to make her classroom engaging and fun for all children. Ms. Ashlee serves on our PBS Lead Team and the Building Leadership Team.

She worked at Head Start and has also earned an Autism certificate. When she has spare time, she enjoys Saturday afternoons on Mass. Street and playing with her son.

Kelly moved to McLouth, KS, from Albany, MO, where she lived for 19 years. She grew up in Shawnee and graduated from DeSoto, so she’s feeling ‘home’ again. While in Albany she worked for the Albany R-III school district for 10 years in their preschool programs. Prior to that she stayed home to raise her two children. When she’s not at work you can usually find her at her son’s school events or her daughter’s softball games!  She says, “I’m a big kid at heart and love just sitting and talking to the kids at Googols, coloring and playing with play-doh.”

Katy Kolman started at Googols in early May, 2014. She is from Tonganoxie, KS and has worked with children in a variety of settings over the past 11 years including, nanny/babysitting, school age programs, and preschool centers.  She has worked with school agers off and on for 7 years starting in high school and has been a nanny for a special needs child with downs syndrome. Katy is has attended Kansas City Kansas Community College & University of Kansas and is currently studying Music Therapy.  She enjoys spending her free time with her dog Lucy. Katy’s favorite quote is, "Today you are you, that is truer than true.  There is no one alive who is you-er than you." -Dr. Seuss.

Ms. Megan is from Kearney, Nebraska and is currently studying for a degree in Music Therapy with a minor in Social and Behavioral Science Methodology. She has previous experience in early childhood working with children between 2 and 4-years-old. In her free time she likes to play piano, read, and make art. Ms. Megan says, "I love having the opportunity to impact someone else's life, no matter how small. As long as I can send someone home smiling, I know I've done my job!"

Ms. Martin is the Fours lead at Googols. Who doesn't know Ms. Martin? A school teacher in the Lawrence Public School district for 19 years, she taught children from kindergarten through 6th grade. She's worked mostly in Lawrence, but a few years in Topeka as well. After retiring she continued to sub in the district before joining us here at Googols of Learning in August of 2008. A teacher with seemingly endless energy, Ms. Martin knows how to encourage the children to learn. In the classroom she is the teacher as well as a playmate, just as likely to get up and dance and play kickball with the children! Maybe it's those 4 boys she raised!

Markus Jenkins

Mr. Markus is originally from Topeka, Kansas. He has an 8-year-old son, a 9-year-old daughter, and one dog! He's been working in Early Childhood for 2 years and plans to further his education formally by getting a degree in Early Childhood Education. He enjoys spending his free time listening to music, playing sports, and hanging out with children. Mr. Markus believes, "We as teachers have the ability to make an impression on a child that can last a lifetime."

She also has an Associates degree in Child Development. She has 13 years of experience in early childhood! In her time off she likes to sail, spend time with friends, and do embroidery. Megan Barr

Ms. Megan is a native Lawrencian and mom to a five-year-old son. Over the years she has babysat and nannied, as well as, spent 9 years working in a Montessori school. She is just shy of a KU graduation planning to finish her last 4 classes online. She enjoys camping, gardening, nature, yoga, painting, drawing, hiking , and arts & crafts. She believes it is important to teach children, "Love, kindness, happiness, respect, how to make friends, and learning how to accept and get along with others."

Ms. Cheryl is a native of Ottawa and has lived in Lawrence for 10 years. She has a bachelors in elementary education and taught for 20 years, kindergarten through 4th grade. She has 2 adult children and 3 beautiful granddaughters. When not spending time with them, she loves taking pictures and is learning to play the ukulele.
