Ms. Vanessa is from Ramah, New Mexico. She is mom to one son and they have 2 cats, Milo and Sitka. Ms. Vanessa holds a Masters in Curriculum and Teacher Education. She has been teaching for 7 years, both as a 2nd grade and 6th grade teacher and including working in early childhood where she has experience with infants through preschoolers. For fun, Ms. Vanessa likes reading, sewing, running, hiking, volunteering, and watching movies with her family. Ms. Ashli is a native Lawrencian. She has 5 cats and 1 dog. She plans to return to school in the near future, and in the meantime, spends her free time bike riding, walking the dog and taking him to the dog park, and re-finishing wood furniture. Ms. Ashli can generally be found in the toddler classrooms.

Beth's background has been mostly in special education. She began in the early 70’s at KNI in Topeka, KS. After getting married and starting a family, she went back to special education with early education in Indiana. Her family relocated back to Kansas in 1993, and choose Lawrence to be its home. She began working with Lawrence Public Schools in the special education vocational program, developing jobs, and ensuring employment. In 1999 she was lucky enough to become a stay at home nana for her grandchildren. As of January 2010 she has worked and played at Googols of Learning in the two year old room as the lead teacher. She says, “I am still happily married to my husband Larry, have three of the greatest adult children, and I am nana to nine of the most amazing grandchildren." She continues to thoroughly enjoy spending her work days as play dates with the wonderful two-year-olds at Googols of Learning. Ms. Beth also serves on our PBS Lead Team.

Ashleigh Ward

Bernoulli's Babies

Ms. Ashleigh is originally from Lawrence. She has one cat and four guinea pigs! She has most of her CDA and plans to return to school in January for an Associates in early childhood. In addition to Googols, she has worked in preschool centers, in-home facilities, and a Waldorf-Steiner center over the last seven years. In her free time she enjoys cross stitching, hiking, and spending time with her family. Ms. Ashleigh can be found in Bernoulli's Babies, but also frequently in the front office. Rachael was born and raised in Paola, Kansas. She is now going to KU and majoring in music therapy. She enjoys working in child development because it gives her a chance to help children grow and learn in a safe environment. She thinks it's wonderful to watch children discover new things and learn about the world!

Ms. Ashlee holds a CDA and is currently finishing her Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Ashlee has been working in early childhood for more than 5 years. She lives in Lawrence and is a mom of two boys. Her 5-year-old son is attending Googols and the other one is an infant. She is driven to make her classroom engaging and fun for all children. Ms. Ashlee serves on our PBS Lead Team and the Building Leadership Team.

Ms. Crystal is originally from De Soto. She holds an Associate's degree in Liberal Arts and is working on early childhood coursework currently. She has four years teaching experience mostly with 2's and 3's. Her hobbies are crafting, hiking, and spending time with her two cats, Stinky and Peaches. Kelly moved to McLouth, KS, from Albany, MO, where she lived for 19 years. She grew up in Shawnee and graduated from DeSoto, so she’s feeling ‘home’ again. While in Albany she worked for the Albany R-III school district for 10 years in their preschool programs. Prior to that she stayed home to raise her two children. When she’s not at work you can usually find her at her son’s school events or her daughter’s softball games!  She says, “I’m a big kid at heart and love just sitting and talking to the kids at Googols, coloring and playing with play-doh.”

Katy Kolman started at Googols in early May, 2014. She is from Tonganoxie, KS and has worked with children in a variety of settings over the past 11 years including, nanny/babysitting, school age programs, and preschool centers.  She has worked with school agers off and on for 7 years starting in high school and has been a nanny for a special needs child with downs syndrome. Katy is has attended Kansas City Kansas Community College & University of Kansas and is currently studying Music Therapy.  She enjoys spending her free time with her dog Lucy. Katy’s favorite quote is, "Today you are you, that is truer than true.  There is no one alive who is you-er than you." -Dr. Seuss.

Ms. Megan is from Kearney, Nebraska and is currently studying for a degree in Music Therapy with a minor in Social and Behavioral Science Methodology. She has previous experience in early childhood working with children between 2 and 4-years-old. In her free time she likes to play piano, read, and make art. Ms. Megan says, "I love having the opportunity to impact someone else's life, no matter how small. As long as I can send someone home smiling, I know I've done my job!"

Georgiane Hassanzadeh

Ms. Georgie was raised in Junction City, KS. She is currently in school studying Unified Early Childhood Education. She has an AA degree and is in her 2nd year at KU. She was a childcare aide at Flint Hills Church for 5 years before coming to Googols. She lives with her cat, her gecko, and her turtle and in her free time enjoys sleeping and watching Netflix! Ms. Georgie has strong beliefs about her obligations to children:

Ms. Martin is the Fours lead at Googols. Who doesn't know Ms. Martin? A school teacher in the Lawrence Public School district for 19 years, she taught children from kindergarten through 6th grade. She's worked mostly in Lawrence, but a few years in Topeka as well. After retiring she continued to sub in the district before joining us here at Googols of Learning in August of 2008. A teacher with seemingly endless energy, Ms. Martin knows how to encourage the children to learn. In the classroom she is the teacher as well as a playmate, just as likely to get up and dance and play kickball with the children! Maybe it's those 4 boys she raised!

Ms. Jayme is a Lawrence native. She enjoys watching Netflix and crafting. She has completed much professional development in early childhood and holds a degree in Theater. She has experience working in preschools as well as church nurseries.

Ms. Morgan is originally from Chanute, KS. She got her start in caring for children working at the Cherry Street Youth Center for 5 years. She also worked as a Diet Clerk at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. She has an Associates degree from Neosho County in general studies and has taken several education courses. She’s always loved working with children and inspiring them to do their best. Her hobbies include camping, hiking, flower pressing, and singing, but she does occasionally love to go to comic conventions too! Ms. Morgan thinks a child’s smile can light up the whole world and she believes encouragement is the greatest gift one can give a child, besides education. She ascribes to the philosophy that children should have fun while learning and thinks Googols is the perfect place for this.

Ms. Jasmine is originally from Kansas City. She has an Associates degree in History. She is nearly finishing her Bachelor's in History/Anthropology. She also has an Associates degree in Child Development. She has 13 years of experience in early childhood! In her time off she likes to sail, spend time with friends, and do embroidery. Her favorite quote about teaching is "Today you lead the class. Tomorrow your students lead the world."

Ms. Pamela originally hails from North Carolina. She has 3 children, a KU grad, and KU sophomore, and a middle schooler. Prior to coming to Googols she worked as a substitute teacher, two years as a preschool teachers and as an academic para-educator. Ms. Pamela was an Art major at KSU and received a Bachelor’s in History with a minor in Art from North Carolina State Univ. She enjoys spending time on her art portfolio, going to concerts and cultural events and visiting museums. Ms. Pamela favors Albert Einstein’s quote, “Play is the highest form of research.”

Mr. Markus is originally from Topeka, Kansas. He has an 8-year-old son, a 9-year-old daughter, and one dog! He's been working in Early Childhood for 2 years and plans to further his education formally by getting a degree in Early Childhood Education. He enjoys spending his free time listening to music, playing sports, and hanging out with children. Mr. Markus believes, "We as teachers have the ability to make an impression on a child that can last a lifetime."

Ms. Cheryl is a native of Ottawa and has lived in Lawrence for 10 years. She has a bachelors in elementary education and taught for 20 years, kindergarten through 4th grade. She has 2 adult children and 3 beautiful granddaughters. When not spending time with them, she loves taking pictures and is learning to play the ukulele.


Samantha Moore

Ms. Sam is a native Lawrencian and the mom to 2 kids and 2 pets (a cat & a dog). She was a preschool teacher for 15 years before coming to Googols to be our kitchen manager. She loves spending her free time with her kids or reading. Ms. Sam’s favorite quote is “For even the wisest can learn incalculably much from children.” – Rudolf Steiner.


Laura Sims

Miss Laura is originally from Ottawa. She’s recently hired at Googols of Learning but has experience being a nanny, has worked in an after school program, and as an assistant teacher. She has a pup and a cat to keep her company and in her free time enjoys reading, gardening, yoga, and being outside.

Ms. Chamisa is originally from New Mexico and is a younger sister to our own Ms. Vanessa! She’s 4 years into a degree in environmental science and has 4-years-experience working in early childhood centers. She enjoys spending time with her nephew and her boyfriend and feels she “honestly loves seeing each child grow and develop their own personality.”
