Ms. Ashleigh is originally from Lawrence. She has 2 cats, Cat & Kitty, and 2 guinea pigs, Murray & Thorin. She is currently earning her Child Development Associates, plus holds over 130 hours of professional development. In addition to Googols, she has worked in preschool centers, in-home facilities, and a Waldorf-Steiner center over the last nine years. In her free time, she enjoys cross stitching, hiking, and spending time with her family. Ms. Ashleigh can be found in Baby Einstein’s, but also frequently in the front office. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask Ms. Ashleigh!


Sally Rife

Ms. Sally is originally from St. Louis, MO. While there she nearly completed an Associates degree in Elementary Education from St. Louis Community College. She is currently looking to continue her education in Kansas. Ms. Sally enjoys spending her free time babysitting and scrapbooking and her belief about teaching children is that, children are like sponges and we are the water! Ms. Sally can be found working in the toddler room.


Mackenzie Greene

Miss Mackenzie is from Ozawkie, KS. She’s currently going to Highland Community College. She’ll earn her Early Childhood Education Certificate next year. She has one year experience working in a child care program before arriving at Googols of Learning. Miss Mackenzie is an animal lover and claims three dogs, a Labradoodle training to be a Service dog, a 13-year-old rescue dog, and an English bulldog just a year old. She also has two horses and a miniature donkey! Other than spending free time with her pets, Miss Mackenzie enjoys reading books and listening to music on her record player.

Miss Mady is a native Lawrencian who enjoys reading and spending free time with friends and family. She feels that when it comes to young children you must be patient, and have the ability to listen and understand their needs.

Beth's background has been mostly in special education. She began in the early 70’s at KNI in Topeka, KS. After getting married and starting a family, she went back to special education with early education in Indiana. Her family relocated back to Kansas in 1993, and choose Lawrence to be its home. She began working with Lawrence Public Schools in the special education vocational program, developing jobs, and ensuring employment. In 1999 she was lucky enough to become a stay at home nana for her grandchildren. As of January 2010 she has worked and played at Googols of Learning in the two year old room as the lead teacher. She says, “I am still happily married to my husband Larry, have three of the greatest adult children, and I am nana to nine of the most amazing grandchildren." She continues to thoroughly enjoy spending her work days as play dates with the wonderful two-year-olds at Googols of Learning. Ms. Beth also serves on our PBS Lead Team.

Hope Gregory is a native to Lawrence. She is currently studying psychology at KU and plans to graduate in 2024. After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she wants to go to Grad school. She has been teaching and working with children for the past three years. She’s volunteered through her church and various summer camps including Camp Barnabas and New City Fellowship in St. Louis. Outside of work and school, Miss Hope enjoys painting, drawing, thrift shopping, and watching movies.

Kelly moved to McLouth, KS, from Albany, MO, where she lived for 19 years. She grew up in Shawnee and graduated from DeSoto, so she’s feeling ‘home’ again. While in Albany she worked for the Albany R-III school district for 10 years in their preschool programs. Prior to that she stayed home to raise her two children. When she’s not at work you can usually find her at her son’s school events or her daughter’s softball games!  She says, “I’m a big kid at heart and love just sitting and talking to the kids at Googols, coloring and playing with play-doh.”

Katy Kolman started at Googols in early May, 2014. She is from Tonganoxie, KS and has worked with children in a variety of settings over the past 11 years including, nanny/babysitting, school age programs, and preschool centers.  She has worked with school agers off and on for 7 years starting in high school and has been a nanny for a special needs child with downs syndrome. Katy is has attended Kansas City Kansas Community College & University of Kansas and is currently studying Music Therapy.  She enjoys spending her free time with her dog Lucy. Katy’s favorite quote is, "Today you are you, that is truer than true.  There is no one alive who is you-er than you." -Dr. Seuss.

She’s currently at JCCC where she’s taking general education courses and plans to transfer to a university to pursue a social work degree. Ms. Jasmine is married and living in Kansas City, Kansas, where she is originally from. She has an Associates degree in History. She is nearly finished with her Bachelor's in History/Anthropology. She also has an Associates degree in Child Development. She has 15 years of experience in early childhood! In her time off she likes to sail, spend time with friends, and do embroidery. Her favorite quote about teaching is "Today you lead the class. Tomorrow your students lead the world."

Carmen Aquino-Velez

Ms. Carmen is recently from Lares, Puerto Rico. She has three lovely daughters, ages 28, 25 and 22 and a mischievous cat named Mino. Ms. Carmen is a bilingual speaker in Spanish, has a CDA certification and 15-years-experience in Early Childhood. She has worked in early childhood in two different centers back in Puerto Rico, including Head Start. One of her favorite pastimes is cooking and baking new recipes. Ms. Carmen wants you to know, she is a hardworking woman willing to give her best for the education and care of the children.

Miss Eleasia joined the Googols family in March 2019 as an assistant teacher. Previously, she had spent several years in the early education field substituting when needed and covering lunch breaks for full time teachers. Ms. Vanessa is from Ramah, New Mexico. She is mom to one son and they have 2 cats, Milo and Sitka. Ms. Vanessa holds a Masters in Curriculum and Teacher Education. She has been teaching for 7 years, both as a 2nd grade and 6th grade teacher and including working in early childhood where she has experience with infants through preschoolers. For fun, Ms. Vanessa likes reading, sewing, running, hiking, volunteering, and watching movies with her family. Mr. Diego originally hails from Kansas City, but is currently in Lawrence to attend KU. He is studying social work and wants to minor in applied behavioral science for Early Childhood Education. Before starting at Googols in September 2020, Mr. Diego worked at a summer camp and volunteered at two child care programs. He enjoys his two dogs and three cats, hanging out with friends, listening to music, riding bikes, and working out. Regarding young children, Mr. Diego believes, "They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel."

Georgiane Boss

Ms. Georgie was raised in Junction City, KS. She recently graduated from KU with her BA in Unified Early Childhood Education. She was a childcare aide at Flint Hills Church for 5 years before coming to Googols. She lives with her cat, her gecko, and her turtle and in her free time enjoys sleeping and watching Netflix! Ms. Georgie has strong beliefs about her obligations to children:

Ms. Cheryl is a native of Ottawa and has lived in Lawrence for 10 years. She has a bachelors in elementary education and taught for 20 years, kindergarten through 4th grade. She has 2 adult children and 3 beautiful granddaughters. When not spending time with them, she loves taking pictures and is learning to play the ukulele.

Ms. Ashlee holds a CDA and is currently finishing her Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Ashlee has been working in early childhood for more than 5 years. She lives in Lawrence and is a mom of two boys. Her 5-year-old son is attending Googols and the other one is an infant. She is driven to make her classroom engaging and fun for all children. Ms. Ashlee serves on our PBS Lead Team and the Building Leadership Team.


Samantha Moore

Ms. Sam is a native Lawrencian and the mom to 2 kids and 2 pets (a cat & a dog). She was a preschool teacher for 15 years before coming to Googols to be our kitchen manager. Lakin Peterson

Miss Lakin is new to Googols in October 2020. She is originally from Lawrence and currently attending Lawrence Virtual School. She has five younger siblings she takes care of a lot and enjoys being around children because they keep her busy and always smiling. For fun she likes working out at the gym, going to get a coffee or hanging out with family and friends, and playing with her dog Allie. Miss Lakin wants you to know she’s always loved helping children and wanted some career that involves children ever since she became a big sister. Ms. Kim is a Lawrence native and is mom to one adult son. Ms. Kim has a B.A. in Child Psychology and ran her own in-home child care program in the 90’s. She enjoys family, cooking, and anything outdoors, especially water! She believes children are like a blank sheet of paper and it’s up to us what is written. You can find Ms. Kim in Franklin’s Family most afternoons.


Mackenzie Ryan

Miss Mackenzie hails from St. Louis but is currently in Lawrence to attend KU. She is receiving her Bachelor’s in human biology and a minor in psychology in the Spring 2021! She has one cat named Cleo and a dog back home named Annie. She’s worked with and babysat children for a number of years. Outside of Googols and KU she loves to paint and do puzzles. Mis Mackenzie says, “I adore your children and can't wait for the day when I have some of my own.” She also appreciates the quote from JFK, “Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future”-John F. Anita Martin

Substitute Teacher
Ms. Martin is the Fours lead at Googols. Who doesn't know Ms. Martin? A school teacher in the Lawrence Public School district for 19 years, she taught children from kindergarten through 6th grade. She's worked mostly in Lawrence, but a few years in Topeka as well. After retiring she continued to sub in the district before joining us here at Googols of Learning in August of 2008. A teacher with seemingly endless energy, Ms. Martin knows how to encourage the children to learn. In the classroom she is the teacher as well as a playmate, just as likely to get up and dance and play kickball with the children! Maybe it's those 4 boys she raised!
