Our Educational Approach

Learning Through Discovery

At Googols of Learning, we believe that children learn best through exploration, creativity, and play. Our curriculum is rooted in research-based practices that emphasize developmentally appropriate learning experiences. By fostering a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment, we prepare children for lifelong learning.

Our Curriculum

Fostering a Love for Learning

We use the Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive approach based on thematic units. Teachers design an educationally enriched environment where children are encouraged to learn through hands-on activities, discovery, and collaborative play. Each experience engages children's problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork, ensuring they're well-prepared for kindergarten and beyond.

Tailored Learning for Every Age

We meet each stage of childhood development with thoughtfully designed classrooms and age-appropriate activities. Our approach nurtures every child's curiosity, independence, and social skills while providing a solid foundation for their future learning.

1 Year

1 Year

This year of the toddler is marked by large gains in gross motor and language development. These classrooms will focus on providing your child with lots of gross motor opportunities to work on walking, running, jumping, and kicking to improve balance and coordination. You will also see greater efforts to communicate and an explosive vocabulary growth. We will reinforce naming of the environment around them and introduce a modified version of American Sign Language for babies. This allows a child who will undoubtedly understand more than s/he can say, to express him/herself clearly, reducing communication frustrations.

So many important milestones are reached during this time, from potty training to emerging language development. We let little ones explore in a safe and educational environment. Activities are planned to allow them to learn in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s not too structured and therefore allows your child to move at his or her own pace. We work on building verbal skills which help with developing social skills like sharing and taking turns which will come later in preschool. For emotional skills building we focus on empathy and emotional literacy skills. We also work on self-help skills like dressing and feeding ourselves.

3 - 5 Years

3 - 5 Years

Our three to five year old classrooms are full of fun activities and learning through role playing and structured discovery. Students learn songs, finger-plays, poems and lots of rhyming! They are focused on one letter at a time and in the Pre-K room work on writing skills. Students are introduced to the Learning Without Tears curricula, which has been used in the Lawrence Public Schools. In our preschool programs we are able to have more discussion around same and different and how we can be accepting of everyone.

Growing in a Safe and Inclusive Environment

Anti-Bias Education Statement of Commitment: Googols of Learning is strongly committed to creating an anti-bias community. Through a developmentally- and age-appropriate lens, we work with children to increase awareness of biases and to normalize conversations about issues of identity, diversity, fairness, and acceptance. We continuously work to equip children with the foundational skills to recognize unfairness and to stand up for others as well as for themselves.
